Steel alloy 1137 is a general purpose alloy, ideal for parts that require strength and machinability. It has good stress resistance. 1137 is considered resulphurized.
1137 has a machining cost factor of 2.7 when compared to steel 12L14. Welding is not ideal due to its high sulfur content. 1137 can be annealed, quenched, tempered, and heat treated.
